About Us
Our department offers the following options:
– Full-time
– Part-time
– Locums

We are a group of 30 ERPs who are seeking new physicians to join our team in both locum and permanent roles.  Our ED has approximately 70 000 visits/per year (~190 patients/day) and 11 physician shifts/day.  We are the busiest ER on Vancouver Island and serve as a referral centre for the central and north island.  We see a wide range of presentations ranging from paediatrics to geriatrics and serve as a trauma referral hospital.

Our hospital is big enough to have 24/7 in house ICU and anaesthesia, a 24/7 trauma service, an innovative ‘procedural service’, 24/7 access to CT radiology, and excellent access to U/S, MRI, and consulting specialties while maintaining a tight knit and collegial feel.

Our scheduling is flexible through Metricaid and our payment provides competitive APP rates.
Great teaching opportunities (we have an R3 program in addition to family medicine residents)
Strong SIM program with lab
We have world-renowned ultrasound instructors and offer an US fellowship
Provide regular journal club meetings
Offer a flexible parental leave – up to 18 months
We have implemented a sabbatical program
Offer flexible scheduling (can request up to 12 days off/month)
Utilize a surge call-in stipend to support busy days
Strong sick day policy and call-in stipend to back fill the day
We hold many social events including a summer BBQ, fall dinner, yearly retreat and spectacular Christmas party
We were voted the best city in BC and second best city in Canada for quality of life in 2026!
Where else can you hike, ski, surf, and golf all in one day?!
